Coq au Vin Blanc Recipe

Coq au Vin Blanc Recipe

Coq au Vin is a French dish which is literally chicken with wine. The traditional Coq au Vin recipes use red wine; however, there are derivations to the classical dish. One variation is Coq au Vin Blanc, chicken with white wine. Our Coq au Vin Blanc recipe uses a dry white wine and pairs well with this dish.

Ingredients:

3 lbs. chicken (we like to use chicken breasts, as it’s easier to eat and not as messy)

6 garlic cloves, minced
1 pint cremini mushrooms, sliced

Wine Pairings:

We preface all of our wine pairing suggestions by letting you know that it’s really a matter of personal taste. While we do offer our opinions and why we selected a specific varietal, there is no right or wrong answer when pairing a wine with your dinner.

Prosecco

Our Coq au Vin Blanc recipe is a creamy dish with the subtle flavors of the chicken paired with a creamy buttery wine sauce. I found this dish to pair very well with a Prosecco. Proseccos tend to have a creamier, slightly sweet character than a French Champagne. They are refreshing and citrus notes pairs really well with the Coq au Vin Blanc.
