Five Alarm Chili Recipe

Our Five Alarm Chili recipe is HOT! The recipe contains jalapeno, habanero and Anaheim peppers to give it a peppery spice. While it sounds like an inedible recipe, it’s actually not over the top if you like spicy food.

Ingredients:

1/2 pound bacon
1 lb. ground round
1 lb. ground pork
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 onion, diced
6 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
6 habanero peppers, seeded and chopped
8 Anaheim peppers, seeded and diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1.5 tablespoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
3 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (16 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes, drained and mashed
2 (16 ounce) cans kidney beans, drained
1 (12 oz.) beer (I like to use a Mexican beer)
3 oz. tomato paste
1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce
2 cups water

Directions:

1. Cook bacon in a large skillet.
2. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels.
3. Chop cooked bacon.
4. Reserve bacon grease.
5. Coat the bottom of a large soup pot with the bacon grease.
6. Over medium-high heat, brown the beef and pork.
7. When the meat is browned, stir in the bell pepper, onion, jalapenos, habaneros, Anaheims, garlic, cumin, red pepper flakes, chili powder, beef bouillon, crushed tomatoes, whole tomatoes, beer, tomato paste, Sriracha and water.
8. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 1-hour.
9. Add beans and bacon and simmer for 30-minutes.
