White Wine Mussels Recipe

Mussels are bivalves and can be found in both fresh and saltwater. Mussels typically have a very mild ocean flavor with a faint, sweet mushroom undertone. Our White Wine Mussels recipe is a very easy recipe to make. We combine white wine with garlic, thyme and parsley to add tasty fresh flavors to the broth.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 sprigs fresh thyme
Pinch crushed red peppers flakes
4 lb. cleaned mussels
1 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley, roughly chopped
Crusty bread, for serving

Directions:

1. Heat the oil in a large wide pot, over medium heat.
2. Add onion, garlic, thyme, crushed red pepper and sauté for 3-minutes.
3. Add mussels and toss to coat.
4. Add the wine and chicken broth and bring to a boil.
5. Cover and simmer for 5-minutes.
6. Toss with parsley and cook, covered until the mussels are open (1-2 minutes more).
7. Serve mussels with crusty bread for dipping in the broth.
