Mussels are bivalves with a bluish black shell, and flesh ranging from a deep yellow to orange. Mussels are found along rocks in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, but most of the commercial harvest comes from the Atlantic. Fresh mussels can be steamed or grilled, and eaten alone of as part of a pasta dish, soup, etc.
