Basic Gravy Recipe

Gravy doesn’t need to be overcomplicated. It involves a few basic ingredients, and our Basic Gravy Recipe is just that. Concentrate on the consistency of your gravy, making sure that it doesn’t lump up.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup flour
4 cups chicken stock
2 sprigs fresh thyme
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Start by making a roux with melted butter and flour.  Hold to the side.
2. In a saucepan bring the chicken stock and thyme sprig to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer.
3. Whisk the reserved roux to simmering stock, being careful to get rid of any lumps.
4. Over low heat, cook the gravy for about 10-minutes until it has reached desired thickness.
5. Remove the thyme sprig and season with salt and pepper.
